IMPACT wins EU tender to streamline product data in Denmark’s renowned deposit system
Dansk Retursystem has announced the collaboration with digital consultancy IMPACT Commerce, who won the EU tender to implement a new Product Information Management (PIM) system delivered by Struct PIM.
The solution marks a key step in Dansk Retursystem’s broader modernisation of its IT infrastructure to be even more efficient and user-friendly.
- Each year, more than 2,1 billion beverage containers are returned through Dansk Retursystem.
- 93% of all bottles and cans in Denmark are returned.
- 99,7% of materials are reused again and again.
- To do this efficiently, every bottle and can must be correctly registered, counted, and refunded. This requires a complex approval and data process that ensures correct data behind every item, securing compliance and enabling circular business models at scale.
- The Danish system is regarded internationally as one of the most efficient in the world.
The entry point for all new beverage containers
From global beverage brands to local niche producers, every new packaging format must be submitted with complete product data and imagery before hitting the market.
With thousands of packaging types processed every year, a user-friendly and scalable solution is crucial. The goal with the new PIM platform is clear: faster approvals, cleaner data, and greater efficiency for all stakeholders across the deposit value chain.
This is a critical system for us in terms of accurate deposit reconciliation and compliance. IMPACT won the EU tender by excelling across key evaluation parameters, with quality as a standout factor. We are excited to transition from our legacy platform to a modern, user-friendly solution built specifically for product data management
New tech must drive progress for the better
The collaboration also reflects a shared ambition to drive positive change through digital solutions.
As part of our mission at IMPACT Commerce to ‘Change Commerce for the Better’, we reinvest 5% of our annual profit into initiatives that create long-term value for people and the planet.
We believe digital transformations should do more than drive business - they should drive progress. Partnering with Dansk Retursystem aligns perfectly with our vision of using technology to support wise use and re-use of materials.
At Struct, the tech partner behind the product information management system, the collaboration sparks joy and meaning:
Recycling and data have one thing in common: they create the most value when handled correctly. We look forward to contributing our PIM technology and experience to that work.
As more companies and consumers prioritise sustainability, the integrity of data behind every recycled can and bottle becomes even more essential. With Struct PIM at the core, Dansk Retursystem is now better equipped to meet tomorrow’s regulatory demands.
One package at a time.
