Torkel Johannessen joins as Executive Director in Norway
IMPACT Commerce strengthens Norwegian market position by welcoming Torkel Johannessen, who brings 25 years of digital experience and executive-level knowledge in business strategy.
We’re excited to announce that one of Norway’s most experienced commerce leaders is joining IMPACT Commerce. Torkel Johannesen is stepping in as our new Executive Director, based in Oslo, where he’ll help companies elevate commerce to a strategic level.
For CEO, Kasper Holst, this appointment reinforces our position as a leading Nordic consultancy – a full-service digital commerce agency helping ambitious B2B and B2C brands turn complexity into competitive advantage. He sees Torkel as a natural cultural fit, both in mindset and expertise.
“Torkel has a proven track record of delivering exceptional results, with an approach that builds trust among both internal and external stakeholders. He is curious, experienced in leading cross-border teams, and consistently aims to deliver memorable results,” says Kasper Holst.
Torkel’s experience within the industry, combined with IMPACT Commerce’s end-to-end capabilities, will be a powerful combination for clients – connecting the dots across business, experience, technology, and data to create seamless digital architecture.
“The e-commerce market is in many ways still immature in terms of business strategy. Many organisations still view it as a pilot project without a clear strategic approach. At IMPACT, I’ve found a partner where we both have a customer obsession and truly want to elevate customers’ business case to a new level,” says Torkel Johannesen.
Today, commerce accounts for around 20% of total retail revenues across the Nordics – and that number is only going up. Over the next decade, digital commerce will become the cornerstone of investment in the sector.
Experience from both sides
Torkel Johannesen’s list of merits is long. It includes growing Convert from NOK30 to 150 million in revenue as their CEO for five years, heading up retail sales and omnichannel for VITA, and being a jury member for Posten Bring’s ‘Netthandelsprisene’ for the last five years. In recent years, as a consultant, he has helped European brands and retailers implement best digital practices.
“My experience comes from both sides, customer and advisor. It really motivates me to see businesses reach their goals. I want to understand the entire value chain and get all stakeholders in on digital transformation, so change management is a big part of my approach,” says Torkel Johannesen.
As Executive Director, Torkel is a strong cultural fit for IMPACT Commerce’s mission to help clients succeed. He’ll tap into the expertise of his new colleagues to build on the company’s strong position as a leading commerce consultancy in the Nordics.
Jernia teams up with IMPACT Commerce
We’re excited to kick off a new partnership with Jernia, one of Norway’s leading retailers in home, kitchen, and hardware.
Together, we’re modernising their digital setup, from PIM and SEO to accessibility, to create seamless customer journeys and accelerate growth across channels.
Start of Norwegian expansion
Torkel has highlighted IMPACT Commerce’s unique skills and exciting customers as a big reason to be part of the company – mentioning both the omnichannel expertise and our strategic approach as business consultants. He sees it as a strong match, where he gets to bring commerce into the executive offices and boardrooms as a strategic partner, creating business impact and growth for the entire company.
“Being a full-scale commerce consultancy, IMPACT can demonstrate to business executives how to execute digital transformation, which will bring growth and new opportunities. By combining business cases, technology, and people, we will help numerous companies leverage commerce to achieve their goals,” says Torkel Johannessen.
The new Norwegian Executive Director also brings a lot of excitement to the rest of the organisation. The extensive experience within commerce will benefit colleagues, while the expansion in Norway signals a strong overall business.
A key part of his role will be building a larger, highly skilled team – reinforcing our commitment to growing a local presence in Norway that’s agile and close to our customers.
