Building Jernia’s data foundation with Bluestone PIM
The Norwegian broad category retailer is modernising its digital foundation. Online growth is key to Jernia’s success and starts with product data management.
Jernia is modernising its digital ecosystem to support long-term growth. With thousands of items and a need to grow further across hardware, tools, kitchenware, and home goods, the business depends on accurate, consistent data to deliver seamless omnichannel experiences.
That’s why the company had an urgent need to start with its Product Information Management. To succeed, IMPACT Commerce has helped set up a new PIM foundation together with Bluestone PIM.
The setup connects existing systems and ongoing projects, giving teams a single, centralised space to manage product data across every channel. It enables faster launches, fewer manual steps, and smarter supplier data workflows – all ready for an AI-powered future.
Jernia is going through a journey of modernising processes and the applications stack. The Bluestone PIM project was ambitious and fantastic. The team at Jernia, IMPACT Commerce, Bluestone PIM, and Byggtjeneste (NOBB) worked towards the same goal and left a big footprint.
The project began in June, and the platform went live in October – ready for both Black Friday and Christmas trading.
“We had a strong and very close collaboration throughout the project. That’s why we could deliver exactly as promised, on time and within budget,” Christian Baagøe Schou, Consulting and Industry Director at IMPACT Commerce, says.
Supplier & Product data onboarding built into the workflow
The PIM transforms how products are created, enriched, and launched. When new items are added in ERP, they are automatically pushed into PIM – ready for immediate product content enrichment. Through a dedicated supplier portal and defined exchange formats, partners can complete attributes, upload assets, through a dedicated excel and web portal.
Now Jernia can have 10 times as many products on the website compared to before – we are talking +100.000. And the best part is, that automation makes product onboarding easy for Jernia, because the supplier is doing most of the job.
The solution is fully integrated into Jernia’s workflow and supported by the Bluestone PIM platform all the way. It replaces slow, manual exchanges with a structured and transparent platform that is built for scale as the assortment grows.
The setup also integrates directly with NOBB (the Norwegian standard service for product data), giving Jernia access to Norway’s industry standard for product information. Teams can pull verified data straight into the system instead of searching, requesting, or retyping information manually. It is a key step in improving both data accuracy and operational efficiency.
Together, these integrations ensure precision and reduce the effort required to prepare products for sale – a major improvement for both e-commerce operations and in-store teams.
The setup is delivering business value from day one. The integrations help Jernia build a unified e-commerce presence. I’m proud of the partnership with both Jernia and Bluestone PIM that has led to such a strong result,
A product ecosystem built for speed
With more than 130 stores and a growing digital presence, Jernia needs centralised product data that moves as quickly as the business. New items arrive from suppliers every week, specifications change frequently, and customers expect up-to-date information no matter where they browse.
“Jernia has an extremely complex and vast range of categories and suppliers in the product portfolio. We wanted to adapt to industry standards, be ready for the future, and have easy, agile ways of working. The Bluestone PIM project with IMPACT Commerce enabled us to do that,” Palas Roychowdhury, Product Owner at Jernia, says.
The new PIM brings ERP, suppliers, industry standards, and commerce together in one workflow. The result is cleaner data, faster activation, and a more collaborative approach across the entire product lifecycle.
“IMPACT was transparent and easy to collaborate with, and their deep knowledge of Bluestone PIM was evident throughout the project. With a lean setup and a highly focused way of working, they helped deliver a complex implementation in a remarkably short timeframe. We were genuinely impressed by how much they achieved under such a tight deadline,” Kim Henning Olsen, Project Manager at Bluestone PIM, says.
